A mobile for your youngster which detects bullying and predators

A new Child safety system for mobiles is being launched by mobile specialist AQL with the help of child safety experts, Crisp Thinking. It works by sending copies of SMS messages that arrive at your child’s phone, to be assessed by the Crisp Thinking computers to detect bullying and paedophile grooming.

Crisp has a track record in detecting bullying and suspicious messages in online chat rooms and gaming portals, and now the technology is being applied to SMS. The Crisp software can identify characteristics which are typical of bullying behaviour or internet predators. All that AQL has done is embed it into its wholesale mobile service, which is now being marketed to MVNOs and cellular operators.

Crisp uses behavioural analysis which is used and trusted by hundreds of international games and media organisations worldwide and includes Sony and the Cartoon Network, and a number of major social networks.

AQL says it has a unique relationship with the 3 network in the UK, allowing them to build bespoke services and brands (MVNOs) with a quick time to market of a few weeks.

Crisp Founder, Adam Hildreth, says "The technology is unique - aql's ability to pass the text messages sent to and from the handset into our screening engine creates a product that addresses every parent’s dilemma - the pro's and cons of giving a child a mobile".

Adam Beaumont of AQL said “The product will be launched under several partner brands, Parents should look for the Crisp logo – the branding shows that the handset is enabled with the protective technology".

The product, powered by the aql-Crisp partnership will be available from major network brands and also specialist operators such as “Keep Kids Safe”. The product is available from Summer 2010.
