What’s the No. 1 sports app for the iPhone? iSwing golf swing analyzer for $5.99

About this time of year, golfers get a little antsy. They seek Florida vacations and dream of spring or just sit around waiting for the grass to appear. Well here’s a way to get in the swing at the practice range for a mere $6. iSwing’s analyzer takes the camera on the iPhone and does what those fancy $100 pro shop analyzers do - captures your swing and draws all those circles and lines and arrows around it to tell you what you are doing wrong. A must for any pro, a great app for your foursome and due to its great value, it has become the number one sports app on the App store.

Technically speaking, “with enhanced drawing tools, users can draw touch-screen lines to determine their spine angles and make sure they're "on-plane" . It also allows users to replay their swing frame-by-frame, and in slow motion, a feature not available on the iPhone.”

According to the company it can also create sequence photos that you can share with friends via Facebook Connect. OK, seriously that I don’t need to see on my feed—please keep it to yourself, unless like the club flies out of your hand or something funny.

The iSwing works on all versions of the iPhone, including models without video capability, but alas not the iPod Touch. That camera thing again.

The company plans a third version later this year, but no hint as to what it might do. However they do plan an Android and iPad version - but I’m guessing that will need an external camera. Clever huh?
