About Unthinkable.biz
Gadgets you wouldn’t think of!
Most of the gadgets on this site were Unthinkable when I was a kid, and many of them couldn’t be imagined just 4 or 5 years ago. We want to track the cool ones, the hot ones, the not so cool and those which we can’t make up our mind about. The site is managed by Rethink Technology Research (we can be found at www.rethinkresearch.biz) but beyond that is made up of a distributed collective of writers around the world, a web team and a cameraman. For the most part we have never met, but in some cases have worked together on projects.
Over the coming days, weeks, months and years we plan to argue among ourselves about the pros and the cons of modern digital devices, and we want your comments and thoughts too. The Cool Wall will (shortly) be a space where we put all the devices in an order from ice cold refrigerator cool to devices which in our view are past their sell by date.
There will be arguments about design, about engineering, about features offered and about those which manufacturers fail to offer. We will also point out unashamedly if something doesn’t work, which should. We want to give you the experience of what it might be like to own each of these devices, and in that way, help you choose, and buy the right ones.
You can email any of the writers and comment on any of the stories and ask us to look into any subject on your behalf, as long as it’s about cool digital devices.
There will shortly be a rumour mill called simply Rumour Bot – which will convey ideas heard in the blogosphere. It helps when trying to interpret the accuracy of rumours, if you have on board a number of technologists who know what it takes to build and launch a new technology, and we hope some of the flavour of that will come across. Take a peak at our CVs by clicking on the other About options.
Unlike most content driven sites, from Unthinkable you will be able to make one click and buy the devices we are writing about, but given that our affiliate list takes in pretty much everyone, that still leaves us free to be brutally honest about what we really think about each service or gadget – we can slag off the poorly thought out products and praise those we dream of owning, and let you know whether or not they perform to spec.
We operate two mailing lists – you can have the daily issue, or one of the technology segments weekly or sign up for an alert to be told about products which are not yet available, so that you can be one of the first proud owners.
Why are all the writers anonymous? Well we’re not sure really. Let’s just say it gives us more freedom to say what we really think, and doesn’t rub off on our day jobs.
To change anything about your service from Unthinkable, or to make suggestions for improving our content, email unthinkable here to take issue with what any of the writers says, email them directly.
