Gameloft release 11 titles for Windows Marketplace Mobile
International developer and publisher of downloadable mobile games Gameloft have gone and supported the launch of the Windows Marketplace for Mobile (why’d they want to do a thing like that) by releasing 11 titles which are now available for download. The Windows Marketplace for Mobile has been launched to provide WinMo users with a place to download applications from. Having now experienced the iPod touch in-depth and first hand (yes readers I got one yesterday, I haven’t put it down since) I realise now how great the app store is (don’t get me wrong there are still some things that irritate me about Apple, but that’s beside the point I’m trying to put down Microsoft here) and how it now has the monopoly on apps as Microsoft had the monopoly well on everything Microsoft had the monopoly on.

The games Gameloft have released they say will put them at forefront of mobile gaming and are predictable mix of racing/sport, action/adventure and puzzle/card game titles. The games that have been released are as follows; Asphalt 4: Elite Racing, Ferrari GT: Evolution, Football 2010 and NFL 2010, Spider-Man: Toxic City, Prince of Persia, Gangstar 2: Kings of L.A, The Oregon Trail, UNO and Texas Hold‘Em Poker. Epic yawn. WinMo phones support full 3D graphics, and have accelerometers and touchscreens, sound familiar? Whether you like Apple or not there’s a lot of lost ground to cover when it comes to catching up with them in terms of the apps that are available, many of which are free.
“We are pleased to once again collaborate with Microsoft to make our games available on Windows Marketplace for Mobile. With more than 50 million users throughout the world, Windows Mobile devices have been garnering a lot of interest and excitement among the public for many years,” says Michael Guillemot of Gameloft.
“Sure you are” says SoupDog. I’m a bit sceptical to say the least, and will be interested to see how the WinMo Marketplace fares, but I’m guessing it will go the same way as the Nokia Ovi store launch, not well.
