The gates of Hell are opened: Dante’s Inferno let out into stores

It has seemed like a long wait but EA’s adaptation of the classic epic poem by Dante Alighieri is finally available to buy. In the game the player will take the role of Dante who travels through the nine circles of hell to retrieve the soul of his lover, Beatrice, who was taken down to the fiery depths by Lucifer. The nine circles of hell include; limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, heresy, violence, fraud and treachery all filled with original puzzles, dastardly demons, and best-in-class boss battles.

Dante’s Inferno is more than just a game inspired by a book, EA claims it’s an adaptation of the poem for a new generation: “Our team is dedicated to delivering a stunning and highly polished interpretation of this classic to a new medium for a new generation everywhere”. And it seems they’re going to great lengths to prove this as there’s also a special edition of the poem being published by Random House to tie-in with the game as well as an animated movie and a six-part comic book.

It will be interesting to see how this compares to Darksiders which though not receiving as much attention has proved itself to be a great game, which also takes the player on a journey through Hell, well Hell on Earth. Dante’s Inferno is available for the Xbox 360, PS3, PSP (yes really the PSP) and as yet there are no plans for a PC version (yes really no plans). So aside from the fact there will be many PC gamers aimlessly searching on Amazon (myself included) looking for the PC version Dante’s Inferno looks like it’s going to be one hell (yes I said it) of a game.

Better than reading the book I say By HorridNo way I bet I could download it on Kindle for a few cents By US ChickYeah I\'ll stick to reading Dante on my ebook as well By WalriThere\'s room for both, but it seems like a long book By SoupDogProbably take you as long to read it as it would to play the game By Test ChimpWe\'re talking about SoupDog here, so maybe a little longer By Greybeard
