Mass Effect 2 still number 1 in the UK, Dante’s Inferno and Star Trek Online beam in
This week Mass Effect 2 rules the roost at number one for the second week in a row, with Just Dance still shaking its stuff at number 2 and the permanent resident Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 at number 3. More interestingly though the last week has seen the release of two highly anticipated games, Dante’s Inferno, which enters at number 4 (A great achievement it would seem at the moment) with Star Trek Online boldy going to number 10. The only other new entries are MX vs ATV reflex at 18 and an expansion pack for The Sims 3, Design and High-Tech Stuff at 20.

Darksiders and Bayonetta are nowhere to be seen this week, and it would seem that Dante’s Inferno is going to the definitive ‘Hell’ game this year. Dante’s Inferno, based on the poem by the author Dante, tells of his journey through hell to rescue a lost lover. It looks impressive, and could pave the way for more games based on literary masterpieces. With the emphasis on the fact that it is mean to be an interpretation of the poem and not just a game inspired by it, has clearly not put any book-phobes off and could prove to be a fun way for students to study the text, who can’t be bothered to read the book as well as being a great game of course. Star Trek Online is also another top-notch game though another MMORPG with a monthly subscription, which will probably put some people off.
With the impending release of BioShock 2 tomorrow (I shall be eagerly waiting by the letter box) I expect next week will see a new entry at number 1, though if Just Dance manages to shimmy its way back up, I will cry.
