About Horrid

Horrid is the worst kind of rugby playing, beer swilling, crooner of ribald songs. He swears like a Portuguese pirate (Do they swear more than other pirates- Ed?), and yet has 4 concurrent virus checkers on his laptop – that’s something of a conundrum right there. Gadgets go wrong when Horrid walks into a room and breathe a sigh of relief when he leaves, which is why he has made a career out of trying to make digital devices work (usually for other people who can actually afford them).

Horrid is a career tech journalist who has never been unsuccessfully sued for libel (other way round surely). After 25 years telling people that gadgets and games were just a fad, he took his head out of mainframes, entered his second childhood and embraced the inevitable. Horrid edits the site so we apologize in advance.

Grown men have been known to chew off parts of their own body rather than stayed chained to listen to Horrid explain how a Codec or UltraWideBand works.

He is agitated around any video less dense than 1080p, and obsessed by OLED screens. While he may be tiresome, intolerable, single minded and boring, someone’s got to scare the rest of us into filing copy on time. Email him here
